About Our Program
Since its establishment in 2012, Cambridge Bands has proudly developed and maintained lasting traditions and spirit throughout the school and in our community which is so supportive of the arts. With our extraordinary feeder programs at Hopewell and Northwestern Middle Schools, we have built a strong foundation for future Cambridge Bands. Each year, we have the incredible opportunity to push our level of excellence and expectations even further.
Our Marching Band begins rehearsing in early July and performs at all home and away football games during the Fall. We also compete at three local competitive events on weekends and have been proudly featured in the London New Year’s Day Parade and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans!
Our curricular ensembles are the heart of our band program and are where the vast majority of musical growth occurs. Students must be in a curricular band class to participate in most co-curricular ensembles. The curricular ensembles include Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble. Our co-curricular offerings include a Jazz Program, World Percussion Ensemble, and Winter Guard. As the band program grows, additional curricular ensembles may be added to the course list.
In addition to our ensemble success, individual members of the Cambridge Band have opportunities to audition for County, District, and All-State Honor Bands – as well as several local honor ensembles including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Rialto Jazz Ensemble, and many others.
Hard-working students, dedicated staff members, involved and active parents, and a supportive administration and community all combine to make it possible for the Cambridge High School Band program to create a diverse and successful musical opportunity for all students. The students at Cambridge will work in a FOCUSED environment, build a UNITED community of learners and performers, and take pride in the accomplishments of building our band program here at CAMBRIDGE.
