Cambridge Bands

Greetings Band Parents,

This year, the Cambridge Performing Arts department is hosting a Halloween social ("Boo Bash") for all members in band, chorus, orchestra/guitar, and theater! It will be Tuesday, October 30th from 4:30-7:30 at the North Park Pavilion. Pizza and drinks will be provided, and we are asking each student attendee to donate one bag of chips/pretzels or one package of cookies/brownies to share.

There will be a costume contest with prizes in several categories! Students wishing to dress up should be conscious of their attire and wear appropriate costumes. There will also be games, music, and a TRUNK-OR-TREAT!!

We need some parent assistance with the TRUNK-OR-TREAT - we need 3 volunteers who are able to attend the event and distribute candy, and we need donations of fun-sized candy. If you are able to help, please use this sign-up genius link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4AA5A929A4FF2-boobash

Your students have been sent a link to RSVP if they are attending - RSVPs are due by Wednesday so we can have an accurate headcount for pizza!

We are looking forward to providing this social opportunity for our students to bond, make new friends, celebrate accomplishments, and have a little FUN!

Thank you, Mrs. Groves & Mr. Borger

  • Instrument and Accessories
  • Marching Shoes/Black Socks
  • Under Uniform (white shirt and shorts)
  • Cambridge shirt for bus ride on Friday (anything Cambridge is fine, our show shirt is great)
  • Personal Hygiene Items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, others as needed) Sleepwear
  • “Bus Bag” (include any snacks, homework, games or movies, cell charger, water). Above “bus bag” can double as a show bag on Saturday and a beach bag on Sunday
  • Saturday “bus bag” should have musical items, sunscreen, water bottle, etc.
  • Beachwear for Sunday
  • Sunday “bus bag” should include change of clothes for bus ride, and all other bus items from Friday
  • Pack other clothes lightly as we won’t have much room in the bus bays after loading our uniforms and hat boxes.
  • Under-uniform and uniform will be all that is needed for Saturday - it’s all about the show that day
  • Sunscreen and bug spray will be good to add to the “bus bag” for Saturday and Sunday

Dear Parents & Students,

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are postponing our Coupon Card Fundraiser Blitz Day. We are looking at Sunday, 9/30, in the afternoon from 1-4. Parents, we will need 10 or so drivers to take our student volunteers out into neighborhoods in the community. Please sign up by clickinghere.

We are currently running about $5000 under our budgeted gross sales. Since this fundraiser does contribute a significant amount to our operating budget, we need to try and make up as much of the deficit as possible. Thanks for your support past & future in helping us maintain a high quality band program. We really can't do it without you all!

Yours,

Sue Lawton
Cambridge Band Booster Club President

Hello,

The FCE is upon us!!! We are the host of the Fulton County Exhibition. Bands will be performing from all parts of Fulton County. That is 14 bands and nearly 1500 band students.

We need your help by signing up to volunteer to work the exhibition on Sept. 22rd. There is a time slot that works for everyone. You can volunteer in parking, visitor band guide, chaperone for CHS band, concessions, and more. You just need to click the link below, and see all the opportunities to help out.

http://www.cambridgeband.org/parents-and-students/volunteer

or

Fulton County Exhibition - Saturday Sep. 23

There are 40+ volunteer slots to fill and only a few have been filled to date. We are asking for band parents, older siblings, CHS band alumni, and family friends to consider volunteering. CHS non-marching band students are asked to signup. Spread the word. This is a fun event. There is no special knowledge needed. All volunteers will be briefed once checked in on how to do their assigned job. That is it!! Students that need service hours are welcome.

Did I mention that hardly anyone has signed up!!

This is the time to sign up, especially if you have not volunteered yet this year. CHS Band cannot successfully host this event without you.

Mr. Borger has described this event at the band booster's meeting on Sept. 11. He describes this event as a great opportunity to be the best host of all Fulton County HS marching bands.

Again, I state that we really need someone from each family to sign up to volunteer. We can not do this without your help.

Sign up today, please. Contact me if you have questions or concerns.

I look forward to volunteering alongside you Sept. 22rd!!!

Thank you,

Elaine Welch, FCE Volunteer Coordinator

Hello Cambridge Band Alumni!

I hope this email finds you all doing well!

We are hosting Fulton County Marching Band Exhibition at Cambridge again this year, and we need your help!! It will be on Saturday, September 22, and there are opportunities to volunteer at any time of day and in a variety of capacities. This takes a VILLAGE of volunteers to execute, so please consider spending some time with your old band family that day! (Our alumni email list only goes two years back, so if you know someone who graduated prior to 2017 please pass this along to them.)

Please use this link to sign-up to volunteer: https://goo.gl/forms/Z57FcIwelmwisDoo2

If you have any questions you can email me (grovesk@fultonschools.org) or Ms. Welch, our FCMBE coordinator (ewelchmail@gmail.com).

Thank you!

This requires just about everybody in band to volunteer to make this a success. Did I mention that this is an awesome night?!?

Coupon Blitz Day: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4DAAAB2EA6F85-coupon
Our coupon sales are not quite where they need to be. We need a few drivers on Saturday to take our students around for the final push to sell the cards we need in order to meet our budget.

Like I said, lots of awesome opportunities. We look forward to seeing you!

Go Bears!!

Thank you,
