Hi Band Family!

If you or someone you know is looking to replace a bed, now is the time!

Cambridge HS Band is excited to announce they will be hosting a one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Sunday, May 7th, from 10am to 5pm at Cambridge HS in the cafeteria. There will be 25+ different styles of beds on display for customers to try. The beds are new, brand name, made to order, available in all sizes, and cost up to 50% less than suggested retail. In addition to beds, there will also be premium pillows, luxury sheets, and even adjustable power bases!

If you are wondering - YES they will deliver the mattress to you (or anywhere in the United States) and YES they will take your old mattress away.

The BEST news is that your student will get cash for each mattress referral that is put towards their name! All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the support of the Cambridge Jazz Band and ensembles!

Reach out if you have questions!

Good Morning Band Family!! Here is this week's Band Bulletin, hot off the presses!! Be sure to open the link to see the full bulletin.

Hello all!

This email will serve as some updates on the rehearsal needs and recording schedules for the remainder of the school year. The rehearsals will be primarily for the Concert Band (1st Period) and the Symphonic Band (5th Period) ensembles to put their concerts together with the percussion students.

The upcoming recording session will be for the Wind Ensemble (4th Period) and Jazz Ensemble (Morning Ensemble) as they will have professional recordings of the ensembles completed so that we can submit to be a part of an invited performance next year. We are submitting the Wind Ensemble recordings to be evaluated by the Georgia Music Educators Association committe (one of the most prestigous opportunities for GA High School Ensembles), the USC Honor Band Clinic (a national clinic with renowned clinicians), and the Music for All Regional Concert Band Festival (a regional festival with renowned judges and clincians). We are submitting the Jazz Ensemble recordings to the JEN (Jazz Educators Network) national conference, and to the GMEA committee. If selected by any of these experiences, it would be the first time that ANY Cambridge Music Ensemble has ever been selected to perform at an Invited Honors Experience. Because of this prestigous opportunity, it is essential that ALL students be in attendance for the recording sessions.

Details Below:

Rehearsal Schedules:
Concert Band Rehearsal with percussion and add ons: Monday, May 1st, 3:45 - 5:15pm
Symphonic Band Rehearsal with percussion: Monday, May 1st, 7:00am - 8:15am
Jazz Ensemble Recording Rehearsal: Wednesday, May 3rd, 7:00am - 8:15am

Recording Sessions:
Jazz Ensemble: Thursday, May 4th, 2:30pm - 4:30pm
Wind Ensemble: Friday, May 5th, 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Music Under the Moon:

Our annual MUTM jazz concert is on Saturday! Our two jazz ensembles have been working hard over the past four months to prepare a selection of music you'll be sure to enjoy outsoors in the CHS courtyard. We're happy to have students from the Northwestern Middle School jazz band join us as our opening act! Tickets will be available at the door, but we encourage you to buy them in advance here: https://bit.ly/mutm2023

We need your help to make this evening a great success. If you can donate your time, we need help setting up the courtyard on Friday and Saturday, as well as some parents to help during the event on Saturday. We have more information on this sign-up sheet: https://bit.ly/MUTMVolunteer. We're also looking for food and drink donations for our bake sale; homemade or store-bought items are both great: https://bit.ly/MUTMBakeSale

Last but not least, we are holding a Silent Auction to raise money to support the band program! You'll have the chance to bid on Braves tickets, Ameris tickets, original art work, delicious bakery confections, and much more! As part of this, we're putting together four grade-level themed baskets. We would appreciate donations towards any of these baskets: https:/href=/fundraisers/music-under-the-moon. Please send donations to the band room with your student by Wednesday.

All funds raised from this event go towards all of our CHS band programs so that we can offer our students great opportunities. Please spread the word about MUTM to your friends, neighbors, and everyone in the Milton and Alpharetta communities!

Solo and Ensemble LGPE:

Solo and Ensemble LGPE will be at Johns Creek High School. Time slots will be given to students this week, however, Cambridge High School students will be going in the window of time from 9:00am - 9:30am on Saturday, April 22nd.

Upcoming Recording Sessions/Concert Rehearsals:

Wind Ensemble Recording Session: Monday, April 24th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Jazz Ensemble Recording Sessions: Thursday, May 4th 4 - 5:30pm, Friday May 5th, 4 - 6:00pm

*This will be the second we will be scheduling concert ensemble rehearsals the week of exam week to rehearse for our upcoming Spring Concert due to the sporadic exam week schedule. Each ensemble will have a time in the morning to rehearse during the 2-3 hour exam period. We will try to choose days that the LEAST amount of students for each ensemble will be in an exam, however, if there is a conflict the student will need to be sure to take their exam rather than come to the scheduled rehearsal. We will announce those dates this week!

That's all for now! Let me know if you have questions.

Good Evening Band Family!

Attached you will find the latest edition of the Band Bulletin. Open the attachment to see what this week has in store.

Hello all,

Below is the link for students to register for the 2023 GMEA Solo and Ensemble festival. At this festival students are able to have an immense amount of choice to perform solos, duets, or ensembles pieces for qualified judges. Many times in the band world our students are not permitted to have much choice in what they play or the type of ensembles they are to be a part of, but solo and ensemble provides our students the opportunity to do just that. Students could write their own pieces of music and perform, or put together that 'trash can' ensemble they have always wanted to be a part of. This is a win, win, win situation that we would LOVE for ALL of our students to be a part of. We will be having a SOLO AND ENSEMBLE concert at the end of the year where each of our students will be able to perform their acts in concert for our community! The cost for each act is $12. This means that if a student performs in a duet it is $6/each, a trio $4/each, etc. Students can perform in multiple acts and will be able to perform in as much as they would like. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, and will be complete by 2pm.

Deadline to register is NEXT Monday, February 6th, at 5:00pm. Sign up here: https://form.jotform.com/Treasurer_Band/spring-2023-solo-and-ensemble

Prescription Medications. Very Important

Any prescription medications that students take “outside of normal school hours” will require additional documentation. Students will NOT be able to keep these prescriptions on them. Each family will need to fill out the SHS-1 Form and given to Mr. Scott the morning of trip with the exact amount/dosage that will be taken over the duration of the trip IN THE ORIGINAL bottle/packaging. The link to the SHS-1 form can be found here: https://form.jotform.com/TreasurerBand/medicine-administration-form There are two documents attached to this email:

  1. Full Itinerary with detailed information for the Trip

  2. Packing list with some additional tips to prepare for the weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to read through each of the documents in their entirety. It is important that students create a checklist for the items needed to be successful.

Room list/Bus List:

Rooming and bus list will be released on Thursday. We did our best to ensure that the request of each student was honored.

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for our first in person parent meeting of the year. In the meantime, I would be remiss if I did not point our the trailblazing, and history making, experience our students will be participating in. Becoming a Band of America band is no easy feat and our journey to get here has been filled with so much joy, grit, and excitement. I have truly had a blast this season and cannot believe we are only 2 Mondays away from it being over.

Let me know if you have questions!
