Solo and Ensemble Registration
Hello all,
Below is the link for students to register for the 2023 GMEA Solo and Ensemble festival. At this festival students are able to have an immense amount of choice to perform solos, duets, or ensembles pieces for qualified judges. Many times in the band world our students are not permitted to have much choice in what they play or the type of ensembles they are to be a part of, but solo and ensemble provides our students the opportunity to do just that. Students could write their own pieces of music and perform, or put together that 'trash can' ensemble they have always wanted to be a part of. This is a win, win, win situation that we would LOVE for ALL of our students to be a part of. We will be having a SOLO AND ENSEMBLE concert at the end of the year where each of our students will be able to perform their acts in concert for our community! The cost for each act is $12. This means that if a student performs in a duet it is $6/each, a trio $4/each, etc. Students can perform in multiple acts and will be able to perform in as much as they would like. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, and will be complete by 2pm.
Deadline to register is NEXT Monday, February 6th, at 5:00pm. Sign up here: https://form.jotform.com/Treasurer_Band/spring-2023-solo-and-ensemble

Prescription Medications. Very Important
Any prescription medications that students take “outside of normal school hours” will require additional documentation. Students will NOT be able to keep these prescriptions on them. Each family will need to fill out the SHS-1 Form and given to Mr. Scott the morning of trip with the exact amount/dosage that will be taken over the duration of the trip IN THE ORIGINAL bottle/packaging. The link to the SHS-1 form can be found here: https://form.jotform.com/TreasurerBand/medicine-administration-form There are two documents attached to this email:
Full Itinerary with detailed information for the Trip
Packing list with some additional tips to prepare for the weekend.
Thank you for taking the time to read through each of the documents in their entirety. It is important that students create a checklist for the items needed to be successful.
Room list/Bus List:
Rooming and bus list will be released on Thursday. We did our best to ensure that the request of each student was honored.
I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for our first in person parent meeting of the year. In the meantime, I would be remiss if I did not point our the trailblazing, and history making, experience our students will be participating in. Becoming a Band of America band is no easy feat and our journey to get here has been filled with so much joy, grit, and excitement. I have truly had a blast this season and cannot believe we are only 2 Mondays away from it being over.
Let me know if you have questions!

Cambridge Jazz Ensemble Auditon
IT'S JAZZ AUDITION TIME!
Audition Date: Tuesday, November 1st, 2022
I'm looking forward to getting start with our Jazz Ensembles! We have an AMAZING history of Jazz Excellence in Bear Country and the 2022/23 season will NOT disappoint! We will once again have TWO Jazz Ensembles this year.
7 o'clock Jump - Auditioned Ensemble (Jazz A)
Jazz Lab - Non-Auditioned Ensemble (Jazz B)
Students who are interested in having a higher chair placement in Jazz B will need to be sure to prepare an audition for November 1st even if they plan to be in the after school Jazz Lab.
Please be aware that if a student is selected for Jazz A, they will be required to travel to New York City, Washington D.C., or New Orleans to compete at the national level! If a student in Jazz B would like to attend these experiences, we encourage them to do so!
The audition requirements document can be found attached to this email!
In addition to that, this is the Google Drive link that will take each student to the backing tracks, electronic copies of the music, and the audition protocols:
Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions you may have about this opportunity!

Bands of America Orlando Regional Trip Meeting:
A detailed itinerary of the Bands of America Regional Trip will be sent out this week. We will have a parent meeting NEXT Tuesday, October 18th, at 6:30pm to discuss details of the trip. This will be great time for parents to ask last minute questions. This meeting will be in the band room, but we will also have a virtual option for families who are not able to attend in person.
Absence/Tardy/Early Departure Form:
We understand that absences, tardies, and early departures will occur throughout the season. We have released our schedule to each family as soon as possible to alleviate the need for a student to miss a rehearsal/performance, however, if the need arises, early communication is essential. Absences that are not an emergency must be recorded 2 weeks in advanced to be considered excused and planned tardies/early departures must have 2 days notice. Completion of the form does not constitute an excused absence. Examples of excused absences would be sickness, COVID-19 quarantines, or COVID related symptoms, deaths, or other pre-discussed events. Unexcused absences will result in students needing to make up the performance experience, or could result in loss of performance opportunities.
Please fill out this form for all absences/tardies/early departures: https://form.jotform.com/Treasurer_Band/cambridge-band-tardyabsence-form
Wreath Fundraiser:

Band Wreath Fundraiser
Hello wonderful band families!
It’s time for our annual Vermont Center Wreath fundraiser. As previously discussed, we are budgeted to raise $90,000 in fundraising for this year’s band program. We have been successful with our Ameris Bank Amphitheater and chocolate bar fundraisers, and I feel confident that we will do the same with our wreath sales.
The students will be bringing home a brochure that includes the products and pricing, along with a flyer that lists our 2 purchasing options:
Local online ordering
These orders will be picked up at the school by the student associated with that order. The family will be responsible for distributing to the purchaser. (Highest profit margin through this type of ordering) http://bit.ly/wreathsale2022
Direct Shipment to customers
Customers located outside of our area (great for family and friends where you can’t drop off their orders. Flat fee commission regardless of product.) If you are local and choose this option, the products are the same as the local delivery, but you will pay a higher cost for these items. https://www.vermontcenterwreaths.com/?ref=cambridge
Each year that we have held this fundraiser, customers continue to be pleased by the High-Quality Products and how they last through the season.
Consider purchasing them as a great customer appreciation gift if you own your own business. (Or as a gift for a family member or friend)
Customers also have an option to make a donation in lieu of buying a wreath, or an extra bonus to the band if they choose to do choose a product(s) and donate.
How does this fundraiser work?
We would like for each student to sell a minimum of 5 products. Each greenery product counts as 1 sale. Wreath hangers or Balsam Sachets count as ½ of a sale. 1 sale is credited towards each $10 donation. (i.e.: if a student receives a $50 donation, they will receive credit for 5 sales. A $75 donation would be credited as 7.5 sales)
Our local online ordering will run from now until 11:50pm on Nov 6th. We will submit our order to Vermont Center Wreaths on Nov 7th to ensure a delivery the week of Nov 28th. If the delivery is received on time, distribution would occur after carpool on Friday, Dec 2nd and the morning of Saturday, Dec 3rd. (Communication will be sent out once we have the tracking information for our delivery as we will also need student and parent volunteers to help sort, organize and distribute)
We are running a contest and will reward our Top Three sellers with a gift card.
Direct Shipped orders are credited the same way, but if someone from out of state wants to make a donation, they will need to use the Local Online Option. Direct Ship orders require the recipient’s address and a specific delivery date, which must be filled out at the time of purchase. The Drop Shipped orders typically run for at least a week to 10 days after the close of our Online Orders.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Shelly Blews or myself.
Shelly (Wreath Fundraiser Lead) shellyblews@gmail.com Cindy Roberts cindyannie28@gmail.com
Thank you and let’s start selling!
